    Hello, everyone. This is Chronet's second RTD.

    For those unfamiliar with the term "RTD," it stands for roll to dodge. In this game, you post an action in bold. I then roll a die for every action, and the resulting number affects how you succeeded.
    1- Miserable failure! Instead of progressing, you have set yourself back.
    2- Failure. Pretty much nothing happens.
    3- Half-success. You sorta got the task done.
    4- Success. You did what you meant to.
    5-Great success. You succeeded and then some.

    This is inspired by @Coolrune206 's RTD, but since his has kind of died, I will be starting a new one. I would like to see his start up again, as it started pretty well.
    http://chronet.com/threads/chronets-first-rtd.4402/

    Before we begin, let's clarify several things.
    • Every participant has their own character that they can make a fitting background for, that is, a background that fits the theme of the RTD.
    • There is a persistent world. Player interaction is encouraged.
    • Survival aspects will be kept to a minimum. This is so that the experience will have a more cinematic feel to it. You only need to worry about hunger, thrist, etc when I say, "You are hungry," or, "You are thirsty." Otherwise, keep your turns oriented towards "bigger" actions, things that have more meaning towards development of the story.
    • Keep your actions at least semi-realistic. Your goal is to survive. If you post something like, "I rush at the gigantic monster to fight it with my fists, then jump into the vacuum of space," then I will choose a more realistic response for you.
    • Do not say something like, "I notice a man in the distance," You should say what you WANT to do, not what your character actually does, as that is for the rolling to decide.
    • Do not say how long an action takes. I will decide this and maybe add fluff to keep the characters in the same time.
    Your first post should be a description of your character, (job, physical description, personality, name, history, age, etc.) AND NOTHING ELSE. Based on these traits, I will decide your starting position. Don't be too outrageous, like a CEO. Pick a more modest job/background, like an engineer, guard, scientist, janitor, pilot, etc. These are just examples, be creative. This is the future after all.

    Story: You are all crew aboard the OSF Oberon, an orbital storage facility, orbiting a peaceful trade planet known as Astora. It is a gigantic facility that could even be considered its own small city by its size, with a population of 10,000. Your facility is connected to a semi-secretive research lab called Runa. This lab is a lab that studies any unusual artifacts found during explorations and excavations of space that border the mapped universe, which are stored in Oberon. These artifacts can range from small samples of unusual minerals, to a very extreme case of a deadly gas that caused a fuck-load of trouble. Today begins like any other day...

    I will post when at least 2 people have posted their "turns"

    Next turn: When all players have posted

    Name: Alexander Wiggin, usually called "Alex"
    Job: Alien Archaeologist, this job usually involves overseeing any artifacts recovered from alien worlds, as well as assisting in complex digs which might require a specialist handy. He has been brought to this sector because of the large influx of strange things which have been entering the sector recently.
    Description: 37 years old, 6 foot, 195 lbs, toned musculature from earlier years of physical excavation on alien worlds when he first started working in outer-space excavation. Looks young for his age, around his late 20's.
    Personality: Formerly a recluse from his teenage years, the exploration of space has led him to be closer with those he meets because they are farther and fewer between, and is generally outgoing with those people he lives with, although sometimes can be introverted around people he is not familliar with. Very much enjoys his job because of the intricacies and complex challenges that deciphering alien cultures and artifacts can bring.
    History: Brought up in a famous family, he was foster child and resented the influence his parents brought him, and did not feel like he was part of his family. He did not care for his parents or siblings as he felt they did not really understand him. As soon as he turned the age of 18 moved out of his home and went to study archaeology, accompanying and observing many people on famous dig sites, all of which was financed by his parents even though he rarely kept contact with them. Eventually he was given a chance to demonstrate his skills and helped in the recovery of an influential artifact that helped humanity to achieve true interstellar travel, after that he demonstrated hard work and resolve, and was eventually enlisted for his specific skill-set, and partly because of the influence of his parents.

    For all of you: Every member of the crew is assigned a CULA, a Compact Utility Living Quarters. This is a 12x12x9 living quarters designed to be used in space stations. Every utility in the room retracts into the walls when not in use, so when you get out of bed, your bed falls into the wall and your closet pops out. There is also a desk, mini-fridge, computer console, chair, and several other utilities (use your imagination). There are 3 shifts that rotate workers. You are all assigned to the 16:00 to the 24:00 shift.

    @Coolrune206
    Eifron Torth: After spending the previous shift drinking lightly, playing cards, and even a bit of gambling, you wake up feeling a little weary. You groan as you slowly get out of bed. You go through your morning routine, getting dressed, brushing your teeth, trying to fully wake up. As you do, you remember the fight you had with Erick Stokes, a hot-headed guard who had gotten too drunk and insulted some of your crew. You feel the massive bruise he left on your arm, which still feels a little bit tingly, and you wonder if you are going to be called into the office for another disciplining, as this is the third fight this week. A panel on the gray-washed walls opens and a mechanical arm reaches out to hand you your PDA. You take your PDA, see that you have no messages, and stuff it in your pocket. Instinctively, you glance at the clock, which reads 15:35. You are expected to report to the engineering office to begin your shift in 25 minutes, enough time for a quick breakfast.

    @Morgan Hunt
    Robert O'Connor: Even though you only got several hours of sleep, you wake up feeling light and refreshed. The previous night you were working on a new, innovative system to filter the air in the entire station and to spread it around more evenly and efficiently. Getting up, you go through your morning routine, feeling pretty good about yourself. You grab your PDA and head out, checking through your long list of messages, reports, and suggestions. You notice one discipline report on Eifron Torth, a buddy of yours. You heard about the fight between him and Stokes, but you weren't there to see it. You decided to talk to Torth later, but also make sure that the guard was disciplined as well. Stokes has friends in the discipline department, so you don't want to let him go so easily. You check the time. 15:30. Enough time for a comfortable breakfast.

    @Dest
    Jason Clegg: You wake up, the same time as usual, 15:00. You like to get up early so you have time for a quick workout before your shift. You put on some workout clothes and head to the gym. After 30 minutes of intense workout, you head back to your CULA, a bit dinkier than the ones the regular workers get. You take a quick shower in the shower module of your CULA and change. You open your weapons locker, something normal CULA's don't have, and pull out your weapons. You are equipped with a CRC-24, a medium sized carbine, and an SG-17, a pistol. Both of these weapons take stun and anti-personnel rounds, both of which you have. They take security quite seriously here. On top of the standard issue weapons, you have your mother's old serrated combat knife and your father's silenced HN-66 pistol, gifts from when you left them. You are one of many of the influx of guards and mercenaries the stations has taken. Rumor has it that a very important shipment is arriving soon, but you are not one to believe in rumors without proof. You equip all you gear and prepare to head out. You check your PDA and find that you are running under the call-sign "Slingshot." You are also expected to patrol sector R-22. You head out.

    @Ozymandias
    Alexander Wiggin: You wake up, nervous and alert. You are excited, because yesterday, the lab was given orders to prepare for a very unusual shipment. Some artifact from deep in un-mapped space. You excitedly go through your morning routine. AS you go, you remember the previous night. You were performing a comedy act at the bar, which went pretty successful, if you do say so yourself. Your friends had pushed you to do your act, but you mainly wanted to do it to impress one of your colleagues, a certain Sarina Eng. Being quite a modest lady in terms of beauty, you feel
    attracted to her by her love for her work analyzing alien artifacts and her very funny jokes. You thought you could impress her, but she had left half way through your performance, so you were a little let down. Checking your PDA, you see that you have to report down to hangar H-4 in sector R-22. There, you expect to be waiting for the strange arrival that everyone has been waiting for. The time is 15:34, enough time for a hearty breakfast.

    For Everyone: Alright, you now have your starting points. From here on, I will be using the roll system to determine the success of actions. All your characters have a place to report, and for the sake of the story and to get to the more survival-ish part of the adventure, you should probably report to work. I will try to keep your times in sync from here on.

    [I assume for simple things like making breakfast I don't have to roll unless I want to?]

    As I said in the rules,
    Plus, you wouldn't have to make breakfast, that's what the mess hall is for, ya skrub. the only thing you need to roll for food is finding it, and that's only if I say you are hungry, you don't have to worry about food otherwise. You may include going to eat as like a side action, but your main action for that turn should be bigger than that.

    With time for a comfortable breakfast I stop by Mallory's room to have breakfast with her. Mallory Osterman is one of the scientists on board the Oberon. I have been courting her since her arrival on board about two years ago. I greet her with a good morning and sit down for pancakes and bacon with her. After finishing our meal I see that I still have fifteen minutes to spare. Since it only takes five minutes to get to the engineering bridge from Mallory's room, I decide to try and talk to her about us in the hopes that she may choose to go out with me. I attempt to bring up the subject casually:

    After a bit of patrolling, I find myself in hangar H-4. It seems to be particularly busy today, with many workers scuttling about. Due to the increased activity, I decide to patrol the hangar for a while before moving on.

    Nice, but please don't say the time, as I will have to sync it myself so that all of you are in the same time.

    I move at a brisk walk to the CULA of Erick Stokes. Once there, I offer a sincere apology about my absolutely horrid behavior last night, and make a joke about alcohol ruling the mind. I then jog to the nearest mess hall, and take the least appealing food, so that someone else may enjoy a decent meal. I commence devouring my food.

    @Morgan Hunt
    Robert O'Connor: She gives you a strange look for a second, and you are afraid she'll say no. Then she smiles.
    Mallory: "Robert O'Connor, are you asking me on a date?"
    You smile.
    Robert: "Yes, I am asking you on a date."
    She gives you a cute look.
    Mallory: "Alright then, meet me at the bar at, say, 1:00?"
    You quickly agree to the scheduled time, and you say your goodbye to her and move along to the Engineering Bridge. Before you get a chance to step through the door of Mallory's CULA, you get a buzz on your PDA. It is a message. You read over the message, then get excited. You are to be in charge of transporting the new arrival artifact to the Runa. You are expected to head down there now to begin organizing. You send a message to Eifron Torth, asking him to help you with the organization, as he is your head EE Specialist. You will also get a chance to talk to him about the fight.

    @Dest
    Jason Clegg: During your patrols, you successfully intercept several men smoking, a big no-no on any station, and broke up a fistfight between two other guards. You are patrolling one of the many hallways when you get a buzz on the PDA. You open the message and read that you are expected in hangar H-4. There, you are to report to Eldon Ridley, the Chief of Security on the station. He will brief you. You remember Ridley from the briefing you had when arriving on the station. He is a very blunt, effective, and hardy person, with a muscle tone that could rival yours. You respect him and what he does.

    @Coolrune206
    Eifron Torth: Stokes, being the upheld asshole that he can be, gruffly says he accepts your apology, but you don't think he really accepted it. You start to head off to the Engineering Bridge, when you get a ping on your PDA. It's a message from the Chief Engineer, and he wants you in hangar H-4 to help him organize the arrival of a new artifact. He wants you there. Now.

    @uncagedbranman
    Collin West: You are in the bathroom in sector R-22. You are scrubbing some puke left by some guy who got too drunk last night, and you send a silent curse to him. You take pleasure in the fight between Torth and Stokes last night. You had been the one to convince the drunken Stokes to make fun of Torth's friends, knowing that Torth would get very violent, and you chuckle. You get a ding on your PDA. It's an assignment message. More puke in hangar H-4. You groan and finish up cleaning. It's gonna be a long day.

    Head down to the docking bay. What else can I do? Check all my pockets for some kind of food, preferrably a nutrient bar. Once I arrive, await further instructions.

    I immediately head back to hangar H-4. On my way there, I notice Eifron Troth. I remember the multiple times I have had to pull him off of someone, and get silently annoyed by his presence. As I enter the hangar, I slip and nearly fall on a wet floor. I look at the janitor, Collin West, who points at the wet floor sign that I could not have seen around the corner. He speaks in a sarcastic, annoyed tone. "Floor wet. Big kill man watch out for wet floor." I resist the urge to punch him in the face and keep walking.

    Further in the hangar, I see Ridley addressing a short line of some of the best guards on the ship. I join them in attention, listening intently on what Ridley has to say.

    [I know you shouldn't typically speak for other characters, but Uncaged is using a character I wrote, and I'm sure he won't mind :p]
