    We're reviving this project due to circumstances arising.
    I'll be away from the 16th of February til the 2nd of March, I'll be working on a release candidate for rp_rockford_chronet_v1 (working title I guess) during that period.

    Well, that's harder said than done with Rockford, I'm going to be fixing all of the core issues before I begin customising the map hugely.

    (I may have replied before. I don't know. I cba to check)

    A few issues/suggestions:
    • Buildings that are stupidly massive and only use a small portion of the space allotted. (Looking at you, bank.)
    • Certain buildings are gigantic for no reason in the context of this server, For example: The fire station, although not too badly done, has a shitton of upper floor space that I never see utilized. Perhaps cutting down or out lesser used buildings would allow for more useable space.
    • The entire ravine area could probably be cut back without issue. It's almost never used as far as I can tell, except for crashing people's cars.
    • The outskirts area is a bit too... Barren. Perhaps the yellow warehouse area could be replaced with a trailer park or something similar?
    • TOO MANY STEEP HILLS! This kills the VCMod.
    • A good portion of the industrial area is unused. It has 2 good warehouses and a power plant that I rarely see utilized.
    • The amount of doors that lead to nowhere is disturbing.
    • The amount of buildings that are just filler material is also disturbing.
    • Club catalyst and the underground parking lot can pretty much be killed off without any issue.
    • I wouldn't mind a small room away from people for admin sits. It's annoying trying to conduct a proper sit while people are in townhall and screaming over their mics.
    • The white house in the outskirts feels out of place. Perhaps it could be replaced with a few small 2-3 room houses?
    • The lake area has a stupid amount of water underneath the ground.
    • Why the hell are the ghettos so close to town hall? All of the other housing (warehouses not included) are nicely built and not covered in grafiti. Perhaps move the ghettos to a more obscure location and move a few shop buildings in its place.
    • The theater only has one working viewing room. There's no need for the size of it with that little space being used.

    How many doors to nothing is there?
    rockford is above or at the brush limit...
    unless u make a ton of water brushes it wont be fixed and less brushes is better

    You can get around the brush limit with some trickery, I'm mainly going to be making a whole bunch of shit func_detail which should lower the stress on VRAD and VVIS for compiling, I've revamped a whole bunch of the displacements in places that really needed some TLC.

    I plan to overhaul industrial and include more variety of buildings for the area, with some layout changes too.

    Already in the works.
    Yeah, I was thinking about bringing over some of the Evocity styled suburbs houses in those areas, alongside revamping the lakehouses.
    It's actually an non issue, VCMod just needs to have some of the handling configured and edited, although I do want to make the hills more shallow.
    I'm bringing back the old school V1 multi-storey car park, going to shift around a few of the buildings there too to make more sense, such as Rockford Customs and the mechanic.
    I have some cool ideas I wanna experiment with in regards to the theater, maybe one large viewing room, half the size of the current one and possibly two/three smallish "VIP" rooms you can rent or something for private viewings.
    I plan on replacing that whole front section with a park/nature area similar to Rockford French.
    Yeah, I agree with this too.
    I agree, I'm overhauling the bank, that's one of the core things I think ultimately needs to be dealt with.

    Sorry if this has been said but:

    Remove ERU tower or remove the ladder up to it, it's mainly just used by people to RDM and haven't seen anyone actually use it for an RP reason, a better idea would be to lower the ERU tower a bit and have it on the same level/height as the townhall windows so there can be like a lookout or a SWAT member with a sniper that can be stationed there, there have been many times people have taken mayor hostage in townhall and it'd be a cool RP situation for a swat sniper to use that.

    I would just PM you, however, you're quite busy and I'd like to hear other peoples' feedback on my suggestions. Now, one thing that all Rockford edits share is they don't feel "right" buildings are out of place and pasted in other areas that contradicts their purpose or just really doesn't sync well with the Rockford map. Just make sure when you relocate buildings they sync well with their new spot. Now on to my more elaborate suggestions

    Remove Rockford Customs. The building doesn't really serve a purpose, and the car customization system I plan to develop in the future will most likely not require it.

    Relocate the strip mall. The strip mall is out of place, it's very rare to see anyone there at all. Relocate it to the area in where club catalyst is and remove club catalyst.

    Centralize the districts. One flaw I've always found with Rockford is its buildings are all over the place. As @Aluminum has mentioned before is that on maps all the player owned businesses should be in a specific area, that way it makes roleplaying business simpler. Instead of relying on advertisement's instructions players know where to look for shops, aside from the usual driving around multiple areas endlessly.

    The Upper-City should be the "NPC district". Making that specific area where all the NPC shops are located is easier for organization purposes. Doing this would only involve relocating the strip mall and maybe the bar and real estate buildings.

    The Inner-City should be the "Player business district". All shop like buildings should be in the inner-city area.

    Add more to the outskirts. Not necessarily buildings, but like small trailer parks, tents, and little homes adding large buildings or suburban type homes desolate its feel.

    Keep the geography. One thing I've always loved about Rockford is its landscapes. No other map can really compare (roleplay maps that is). The nice cliffs, ravines, and hills make Rockford not only realistic but fun to drive on. Maps like Rockford GLife are flat and boring.

    Add a public market. A small marketplace that provides little stands for players to sell, buy, or trade. Take inspiration
    or just copy the fucking thing from Rockford GLife, the mapper made a very nice marketplace, and from servers, I've played that has its used a lot. And offers a nice alternative to building a shop.

    Go back to the Rockford_v1 police department. The interior was horrible, however, the exterior was perfect. The current police department feels more like a military compound where you'd expect Seal Team 6 to be strolling out of rather than your average GMod Cop.

    Remove Club Catalyst. As many have mentioned before, it's indeed, pointless.

    Readd the parking garage from V1. I'm aware it has been mentioned already. The parking garage although desolate and empty, did offer a good place for crime to be commited. And for event to take place.

    Reskin the Upper-City Shell to a 7/11. Now, Rockford V1 had a very nice 7/11 too bad it was pointless. It's a very low priority addition however, using the textures from V1 (That are in V2 anyways) to reskin the shell in the upper-city to a 7/11 would look better. Something like this

    To me personally the small marketplace looks retarded and I just feel like it wouldn't be used. I could be wrong though.
    I also like the RockfordV2 Police station more.
    Moving the strip mall is a fantastic idea though, maybe not in front of PD but it should definitely be in inner city.

    I love the idea of a trailer park. Maybe with pre-placed "trailer" buildings, and parking spots for the RV vehicle. The mobile home buildings could be around the size of ghetto apartments (or a little smaller). I feel like it could add some much needed RP, especially if a pickup was added, so I could RP as a hick meth cook. my friends and I tried to do it with the RV car, and it was just too buggy and bouncy to do. a stable mobile home building would make this more achievable and more fun.
